KAEFER Oy has been awarded significant contracts by Meyer Turku in Finland regarding two new ships for Costa Cruise, one of the world’s premier cruise lines.
The two new ships will be built at the company's shipyard in Turku, Finland, with deliveries expected in 2019 and 2020. Each new cruise ship will exceed 180,000 gross tons, offering more than 2,600 passenger cabins and 5,200 lower berths to accommodate a total capacity of 6,600 guests.
These next-generation cruise ships will be be powered at sea by Liquefied Natural Gas, representing a major environmental breakthrough: They will use LNG to generate 100 percent of the ship's power both in port and on the open sea – an industry-first innovation that will significantly reduce exhaust emissions to help protect the environment.
KAEFER OY's turnkey contracts to build the SPA areas and two sundecks on every ship will start in 2018/2019. Contact person for these contracts is Mr Janne Sirvio (Janne.Sirvio@kaefer.fi).
